   أنشأت مؤسسة النقد العربي السعودي المعهد المصرفي عام 1385 هـ الموافق 1965 م تحت مسمى معهد التدريب المصرفي وكان يقدم في ذلك الوقت تعليما أكاديميا ينتهي بمنح الموظف دبلوما في العلوم المالية والمصرفية. وبعد التطورات التي طرأت على طبيعة أعمال المصارف وتوسع قاعدتها وتنوع خدماتها واستخدامها التكنلوجيا الحديثة كان من الضروري إحداث تغيير في مسيرة عمل المعهد للتلائم مع هذه التطورات. وفي عام 1409 هـ الموافق 1989 تم انشاء المعهد الحالي تحت مسمى المعهد المصرفي واضعين نصب أعيننا خدمة طبيعة كل مرحلة يمر بها العمل المالي والمصرفي. الرؤية :: تطلعاتنا أن نكون سباقين في إيجاد حلول معرفية متميزة لقطاع الخدمات المالية في المملكة، وبالتالي الإسهام في التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية. الأهداف :: وضع معايير تعليمية لممارسي المهن في قطاع الخدمات المالية. وضع خطط وبرامج تعليمية لتطوير التعليم المهني في قطاع الخدمات المالية من خلال تصميم وتقديم برامج ودورات تدريبية. القيام بالأبحاث التطبيقية لقطاع الخدمات المالية، وتقديم معلومات متخصصة لهذا القطاع. تطوير الكفاءات السعودية القادرة على نشر أحدث المعارف المالية، وتطوير المهارات في الأعمال المصرفية والمالية. الاستمرار في توسيع قاعدة التعاون والمشاركة، ليصبح المعهد عضواً في شبكة دولية من الخبراء والمؤسسات المالية تساهم في نقل المعرفة وتوطينها .

   The Institute was first established by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency in 1965 under the name of Institute of Banking Training At that time, the institute provided only conventional academic education where the trainees, who were banking sector employees, were granted, after successfully passing the courses, a diploma in banking and financial studies. With the acceleration of the development of the banking business and the increasing introduction of advanced technologies in the banking sector, it became essential to change the Institute's goals and strategies to respond to such changes and to cope with the expectations of the leaders of the banking and financial sectors. In 1989, SAMA established the present institute under the new name of The Institute of Banking Our Vision :: To be the pre-eminent center of excellence providing knowledge solutions to the financial services industry in the Kingdom, thereby contributing to the economic and social development of the country. Our Objectives :: To be the recognized qualification and accreditation body in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for professional practitioners in the banking and financial services sector. To design, develop, and deliver need-based, professional education and training programs in the field of banking and finance. To engage in need-based applied research and provide information services to the financial services sector. To develop a pool of Saudi experts capable of creating, adapting, and diffusing innovative knowledge and skills in the area of banking and finance. To become an active member of an international network of experts and institutions in the field of banking and finance.
