   جامعة الملك فيصل : لقد كان للمرسوم الملكي الكريم رقم هـ/67 وتاريخ الثامن والعشرين من شهر رجب عام 1395هـ، القاضي بتأسيس الجامعة في مدينة الهفوف بمحافظة الأحساء بالمنطقة الشرقية أكبر الأثر في نفوس المواطنين والذي زرع الأمل العلمي وأعطى للدارسين الطموحين من أبناء هذا البلد قوة دفعت بآمالهم العلمية نحو التحقيق المتميز في جوهره كصورة لانتمائهم لهذه الجامعة وحرّك فيهم دوافع البناء وتحقيق ذات المنطقة ومنذ البداية اكتسبت الجامعة جهداً خاصاً من حكومتنا الرشيدة أتاح لها فرصة النمو المطرد. واعتمدت الجامعة في سنة إنشائها الأولى في عام 1395/1396هـ، على بعض المباني المستأجرة، وفي السنوات اللاحقة أنشأت واستخدمت بعض المباني سابقة التجهيز كمقر للكليات فكانت البداية بكلية العلوم الزراعية والأغذية وكلية الطب البيطري والثروة الحيوانية. ولما كانت الثقة في قدرة المعرفة الواسعة على الإسهام في التعليم تكمن وراء تكوين كليات جديدة بعد استكمال وتكامل الكليات التي كانت قائمة فكان قرار إنشاء كليات أخرى بالجامعة لتلبي احتياجات مستقبل المملكة وهي كلية التربية في العام 1401/1402هـ وكلية إدارة الأعمال في العام 1404/1405 هـ ثم توالى افتتاح الكليات حتى العام 1433/1434هـ حيث اصبح عددها 16 كلية ولا تقف المسيرة عند هذا الحد فبتاريخ السابع من شهر شوال لعام 1418هـ، قام صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلطان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود ولي العهد نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الدفاع والطيران والمفتش العام (رحمه الله) بوضع حجر الأساس للمرحلة الأولى للمدينة الجامعية لجامعة الملك فيصل لتظل هذه الجامعة بمشيئة الله تعالى كما خطط لها بفضل الدعم الذي تحظى به من راعي نهضتنا خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز آل سعود وولي عهده الأمين صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود صرحاً شامخاً ومنارة علم رفيعة المكانة قريبة إلى قلب المجتمع الذي أنشأت من أجله ومحط أنظار أبناء هذه المنطقة من الطلاب ليتزودوا بسلاح العلم والمعرفة وينطلقوا بسواعدهم في مجالات تخصصاتهم المختلفة لتحقيق آمال أمتهم فيهم. تطور عدد طلاب الجامعة من 170 طالباً في عام 1395/1396هـ، إلى أن وصل الآن إلى أكثر من 33691 طالباً وطالبة في العام 1433-1434هـ. وجدير بالذكر أن الجامعة وفرت العديد من الفرص الدراسية للطالبات فقد بدأت بتقديم تخصص الاقتصاد المنزلي للطالبات في العام 1398هـ وبدأت في قبول الطالبات في التخصصات التربوية عام 1401/1402 هـ ثم تلتها دخول الطالبات في التخصصات الإدارية والطبية والصيدلانية والحاسوبية وتطور عدد أعضاء هيئة التدريس والمحاضرين والمعيدين بالجامعة من 46 عضواً حتى أصبح الآن 1657 عضواً كما تطور عدد الإداريين والفنيين والمستخدمين بالجامعة من 166 فرداً حتى أصبح الآن 1485 من الذكور والإناث في العام 1433/1434 هـ وانطلاقاً من قناعة الجامعة بتوفير فرص الدراسات العليا بالداخل للشاب والفتاة السعودية فقد أولت الجامعة برامج الدراسات العليا عناية خاصة وعملت على توفير كل المقومات اللازمة لبدء هذه البرامج وقد خطت الجامعة في خلال سنواتها الأولى خطوات واسعة في هذا الخصوص ويبلغ عدد طلاب الجامعة المسجلين في برامج الدراسات العليا للعام 1433-1434 هـ (1241) طالباً وطالبة ورغم تأني الجامعة في تقديم برامج الدراسات العليا إلا أن ما تم إنجازه حتى الآن يعد بكل فخر إنجازاً تعليميا رائداً للجامعة.
