أنشئ معهد الإدارة العامة بموجب المرسوم الملكي رقم ( 93) وتاريخ 24/10/1380هـ الموافق (10/4/1961م) ، باعتباره هيئة حكومية مستقلة ذات شخصية اعتبارية ، بهدف رفع كفاية موظفي الدولة وإعدادهم علميًا لتحمل مسئولياتهم وممارسة صلاحياتهم على نحو يكفل الارتقاء بمستوى الإدارة ويدعم قواعد تنمية الاقتصاد الوطني . كما يختص المعهد بالإسهام في التنظيم الإداري للإدارة الحكومية وإعطاء المشورة في المشكلات الإدارية التي تعرضها عليه الوزارات والأجهزة الحكومية ، والبحوث المتعلقة بشئون الإدارة وتوثيق الروابط الثقافية في مجال الإدارة العامة .
النشاطات الرئيسة:
ينقسم نشاط معهد الإدارة العامة إلى أربعة نشاطات رئيسة هي:
1.التدريب (أثناء الخدمة - قبل الخدمة).
2.الاستشارات.
3.البحوث الإدارية.
4.التوثيق الإداري.
Center for Leadership Training & Development (CLTD) aims at the promotion and development of top administrative leaderships for government agencies. Participants include deputy ministers, assistant deputy ministers, directors general, and officials of equivalent ranks, as well as top private sector leaderships.
The programs consist of applied seminars, symposia, and various scholarly meetings. Participants get to know the new developments and trends in the field of public administration, discuss administrative problems that they face, and search for solutions. They also have the chance to exchange views and suggestions about new public administration trends.
