   Ghassan Ahmed Al-Sulaiman Development Co. Ltd. (GHASSANCO) was built upon the vision of its founder Dr. Ghassan Al-Sulaiman with a perpetual aim of identifying and pursuing unique investment opportunities across various sectors.

GHASSANCO was established in 2004 and it is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, operates or actively participates in more than 15 companies in Middle East, often in partnership with leading nationals or multinationals. GHASSANCO’s investment approach generally aims for a local angle in its activities. This means that although we at GHASSANCO appreciate the knowledge pools and centers of excellence around the world, we are always looking for away to create a transfer of knowledge mechanism between our investee companies and local communities in the kingdom. We believe strongly in local capabilities and human resource and, as such, aim to leverage these capabilities and resources to the benefit of GHASSANCO’s regional and/or international investments.

GHASSANCO is also a strong believer and pioneer in the venture capital space. Not only does GHASSANCO bank various VC firms in the Kingdom and region but we are always on the lookout for entrepreneurs who are looking for partners with more than just funding ability. To support the development of entrepreneurship, Dr. Ghassan is heavily involved with some Saudi government and Saudi Chambers of Commerce initiatives that target the development of entrepreneurship and the SME sector in Saudi Arabia.

We at GHASSANCO do not specifically target majority shareholding in the investee companies. This allows additional flexibility in attracting other business groups and entities to become shareholders in the new companies we help create.

Since its inception in 2004, GHASSANCO has grown tremendously by strategically investing in retailing, real estate, financial services, hospitality and tourism and information technology services. By creating new opportunities in these sectors, GHASSANCO is making a valuable contribution to the economic development of the local Saudi market and the MENA market.
