أنشأت الوعلان فـي عام 1975 كمؤسسة مملوكة فردياً ، وبدأت نشاطها فـي النقليات بأسطول من الشاحنات والصهاريج التي تقوم بتوريد المياه والوقود للعديد من شركات الإنشاءات ضمن المنطقة التي كانت تنمو بشكل مضطرد فـي بنيتها التحتية خلال السبعينات والثمانينات . وقد نمت الشركة من خلال رؤية النمو فـي المملكة العربية السعودية وتنوعت نشاطات المجموعة فـي مجالات الأعمال المختلفة بنجاح منقطع النظير .
