اختارت الشركة السعودية العالمية للبتروكيماويات (سبكيم) مدينة الجبيل الصناعية لبناء مجمّع صناعي خاص بها لإنتاج المواد الكيمياوية المختلفة ، حيث أن هذه المدينة من المناطق الصناعية الرائدة في العالم، نظراً لامتلاكها كافة مرافق البنية التحتية اللازمة لمثل هذه المشاريع الضخمة ومن الأسباب لاختيار هذه المنطقة، توافر المواد الخام في المنطقة الشرقية، حيث توجد شركة أرامكو السعودية التي توفر إمدادات المواد الأولية المطلوبة بأسعار تنافسية للغاية وبكميات كبيرة، مع سهولة التصدير من الجبيل عبر ميناء الملك فهد الصناعي، إضافة إلى قربها النسبي من دول جنوب شرق آسيا التي يتم تصدير معظم المنتجات البتروكيماوية إليها.
Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) has chosen Jubail Industrial City to build its industrial complex for producing its range of chemicals because the location is one of the world's leading industrial areas and offers the necessary infrastructure required for large projects. The availability of raw materials in the Eastern Province, the presence of Saudi Aramco supplying large quantities of necessary feedstocks at very competitive prices, the ease of export provided by the King Fahd Industrial Port, and its relative proximity to the Southeast Asian markets to which most petrochemicals are exported, are other reasons for this choice.
Sipchem's site occupies an area of over one million square meters in the basic industries part of Jubail Industrial City. Sipchem's strategy aims at integrating present and future petrochemical and chemical products to form a series of added-value products aimed at increasing national production, developing the petrochemicals industry in accordance with the comprehensive development plans adopted by the Kingdom, and multiplying shareholders' profits and yields.
